Why I’m Pissed At “Spiritual” Influencers…
The words…Authentic. Aligned. Embodied. Spiritual. Self-love. They’re so overused these days that they’ve pretty much lost their meaning.
As someone who’s lived and breathed each of these words for over 25 years it really sucks. It especially sucks when I’m trying to write my website and can’t use these words because they’ve become so generic and meaningless.
I could rant about the 23 year old life coaches, polluting these words, who know plenty about running a social media campaign but the depths of their spirituality is wafting sage while making vague statements about the goddess.
Instead I’m going to tell you how I claimed these words.
Over 25 years ago I quit my short, successful career in advertising to immerse myself in the ancient wisdom of Asia. I spent time in Shaolin monasteries, with Hindu holy men, Tibetan nuns and Sufi dervishes.
What I don’t have are selfies of me on these holy pilgrimages. What I do have is lived experience. Ya know…embodied wisdom.
I wasn’t in Tibetan temples, or the deserts of Rajasthan trying to build a social media following. I was living and breathing spirituality every damn day. No distracting myself with doomscrolling, or having ego-massaging discussions with ChatGPT.
Nope. I was sweating in the deserts of Rajasthan trying to decipher mystic texts or sobbing my prayers into the Ganges river. I was trying to figure myself out…why did I keep living my life for everyone else? When nothing was really wrong with my life, why was I so miserable?
And after years of intense inner exploration I finally figured it out. I accessed a genuine love and light inside of myself which will always be with me. I locked in self-love in 2009 (before it became a trend to sell bath bombs).
Then I spent a few months wandering alone in the Nepali mountains, crying each day simply from the bliss of being alive. I decided the only thing worth doing was guiding others through a similar transformation.
But how was I going to do that? My journey had taken 7 years of intense inner work and not everyone was ready to use Indian toilets for that long.
I started praying for a tool that would help people release their wounds quickly, illuminate their minds with love so they could be free to create a life which makes them feel damn grateful and happy to get out of bed in the morning. Some quick, effective way to drop the shackles of their past and feel excited to choose their own adventure, living free and for themselves…the way that I was.
Within a few weeks I’d found EFT Tapping which I quickly combined with my subconscious detective abilities that I’d unlocked from years of my own inner exploration and as the song says…whoomp there it is.
That was 16 years ago.
Think about that for a moment. Think about what you were doing sixteen years ago. That’s how long I’ve been honing my skill as an EFT practitioner, guiding hundreds of people all over the world, giving over 3,000 1:1 sessions, while offering over 250 free sessions on YouTube which are used by thousands more each week.
And of course, this whole time I’ve continued to do my own inner work.
So when I say I’m the real deal. I mean it.
If you’re only looking for an epiphany about your childhood to share on your socials, while continuing to live your toxic traits. I’m not for you.
But if you’ve already been doing this inner work thing for a while and/or are ready to fast track your path of transformation, then I’m your person.
If you’ve already had insights in therapy, identified limiting beliefs, but keep getting stuck making the same choices, then I’m here to help you release it at the root once and for all.
So you can be your authentic self and go after what you really want in your life.
So you can live in alignment with what your soul came here to do.
So you can experience genuine self-love and be compassionate with yourself no matter what turbulence you hit as you go through life.
So you can embody the spiritual wisdom you’ve been reading and use it to actually change your life.
Because when you work with someone who’s done their own inner-work for a quarter of a century AND knows how to use a transformational tool like EFT Tapping…then authenticity, alignment, self-love and spirituality actually mean something.
They’re no longer vague, overused terms, they can be lived and felt in your everyday life and that’s how you build the most precious, joyous life which your heart knows is possible.
If what I shared here resonated, get in touch or share in the comments and lmk your thoughts. This is the first time I’ve written a post in forever.
